eBay Troubles

Ashley bought a MP3 player a while back, and it's really neat. I thought to myself "That would be really nice on vacations. Instead of dragging a cd player walkman and TONS of cds, I can put 500 or so songs on a MP3 and go." No more digging through cds. Just 1 player and nothing else.

Since Ashley is so much smarter than I am about electronic things. I asked her which kinds are the best, plays best, ect.. She told me there there was a MP3 just like hers on eBay for $50, and only had 1 bid. So, I bidded $79.99. Next thing I know this person with only 1 feedback comes on and bids $5.00 at a time until they outbid me.

So, I emailed Ashley and asked how much she spent on hers. I sure didn't want to pay more than a brand new one. Anyway, I put 150.99 TOP BID, which was approx. $100 cheaper than a new one.

Well, the 1 feedback person comes back and bid s $10.00 a time until I'm outbidded. Next thing I know this person contacts me and says... "I'm really sorry, I didn't mean to do that. As you can see I'm new on ebay. My wallet can't afford this, so I'm signing out of ebay, so it's yours."

I replied "It doesn't matter if you sign out or not,you are still the highest bidder. If you are still the highest bidder at the end of the auction, you are obligated to pay it. I'm sorry, but I can't afford to go any higher. For your sake I hope someone comes along and outbids you."

I wish people would read the rules before bidding. ARGH........

You know, I've been thinking the same thing lately (about getting an MP3 player), no joke! :) Ah...eBay newbies...gotta love 'em!

It makes me wonder if the seller didn't have a "friend" to bid against me to make more money.
Then when it backfired, they tried to get out of it by trying to talk me into rebidding. I sure didn't want to continue the cycle.

Hmmmmm....being the suspicious person that I am, my first thought was that a friend was bidding the price up. I certainly would keep an eye on that seller and see if it comes up for auction again!
