I'm finally growing a backbone.

Sometimes I wonder where the bosses brains are. My regular boss wasn't at work, so the dayshift boss stayed over 4 hours, and the midnight boss came in 4 hours early.

The day shift boss is a really hard man to get along with. He was a cop. (If any of my coworkers are reading this... You KNOW who I'm talking about.) So, he has a big head as it is. Okay granted my normal boss does too. (He was a former Colts player.) However my regular boss isn't nearly as "pigheaded" as the day shift boss.

Okay, back to work last night. We ran out of parts an hour into the shift. I cleaned up and tried to find things to do. When I couldn't find anything else to do, I sat down and read. The boss comes in and this is our conversation:
Boss: "You're not being paid to read. FIND something to do."
Me:"I did everything that needs done, what should I do?"
Boss:I don't care. Just FIND something.
Me: Since I don't know what to do. Please tell me what you want done, and I'll do it.
Boss: I don't have time to babysit all night.
Me: Sure you do.That's what they're paying you for.

Yes, the days of letting bosses walk over me are starting to fade into the past.

He left at 7:30, but before he did he called 9 hours. I yelled "What for? There's nothing to do?" The next boss was really easygoing. I only saw him once the whole night. I asked him if we were still working to 1 AM. At first he said yes, but then he asked me exactly what my job was. When I told him, he said "Go home at 12, there's nothing to do."

So, technically I worked less than an hour and sat for little over 7. I got paid for reading a book. Crazy huh?
